Forestry
The Forestry
Division is responsible for maintaining the city’s tree
canopy. Winter Park has received the National Arbor Day Foundation’s
“Tree City USA” award for the 26th consecutive year
and the Foundation “Growth” award since it’s inception
in 1991. This division is also one of the 23 cities nationwide to
receive the Foundations Sterling award.
The Forestry crew is tasked with maintaining and
increasing the city’s urban forest by scheduling services
to facilitate optimum trimming and planting of live trees, removal
of dead trees, and educating the public, and providing consultations
to city residents.
Forestry maintains a five acre tree nursery and
a quarter acre seedling holding area as well as a tree debris disposal
site.
